Hyderabad and Jamshedpur share a point each

Aridane’s goal was cancelled out by Eze late in the game which ended as a stalemate

Vasco, Goa: Manolo Marquez’s men remain unbeaten in the Indian Super League season, after a 1-1 draw against Jamshedpur FC at Tilak Maidan on Wednesday. Aridane Santana scored from close range just after the break for Hyderabad but an 85th minute goal from Stephen Eze secured a point for the visitors from this game.

HFC squandered a chance to go top of the ISL table, but this win takes them to the fourth place, having registered five points from their first three league games.

Both sides cancelled each other out in the opening stages of the game but Hyderabad had the better chances, going into the break. Liston Colaco’s free-kick from 30-yards out and Halicharan Narzary’s effort, that hit the far post, were the best moments of the half for Marquez’s men.

They came out strongly in the second half, and showed good passing range, constantly finding their wingers in space in the final third. Narzary’s dribble from the left, that opened space for a shot on his right from inside the box was crucial in HFC’s build up to their goal.

The save from Narzary’s shot fell to Aridane, who kept himself onside and tapped it home from just five yards. Not long later, Liston and Asish’s counter attack should have sealed the game for HFC.

From Jamshedpur’s corner-kick to their defensive box within seconds, Liston’s pace created a great chance for the right-back, who took too long to get his shot away.

Laxmikant Kattimani’s had his blushed saved mid-way through the second half, when his punched clearance from a free-kick hit Aridane and rolled into his net. But the referee saw an infringement and the whistle blew, which kept HFC in the lead.

Hyderabad also had a couple of half chances from crosses and through balls, even as they made changes to their XI. But it was a sensational strike from Eze, just five minutes from the end, that rescued a point for Owen Coyle’s side. Jamshedpur FC also became the first side to breach the Hyderabad defense this season

Mohammad Yasir, the ‘Hero of the Match’ and Hitesh Sharma, both of who came on after being dropped in the previous game, were probably the two most influential players in the game.

HFC are back in action when they face ATK Mohun Bagan FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Friday, the 11th of December.
