The 19-year-old opened up on his journey in Indian football and making it to the senior team at Hyderabad FC
Panaji, Goa: One of Hyderabad FC’s rising stars, Nikhil Prabhu possesses talent that has been recognized and lauded by some renowned names in Indian football, including former international Mehrajuddin Wadoo. In an interview with Khel Now, the youngster opened up on his journey so far, his experience at the club and ambitions for the future.
The Hyderabad-born defender was involved in both cricket as well as football as a kid. “Once, my dad asked me to pick one out of the two games. That is when I chose football,” he said.
Nikhil Prabhu has his roots in the city and thus it was a ‘return to home’ of sorts for him. “Playing for the Hyderabad FC Reserves I had a great experience with coach Anshul (Katiyar). Later, I went on to train with the senior team too and that helped me grow and eventually earn a contract with them,” he said, talking about his first year at the club.
