Roland Alberg called up for Suriname National Team

Midfielder now eligible to represent Suriname, in the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

Hyderabad FC midfielder Roland Alberg has been called up to the Suriname national team for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in the CONCACAF (North and Central America) region. Suriname are slated to play against Cayman Islands (March 24) and Aruba (March 27) in the first round of the qualifiers.

Alberg is one of eight players who became eligible to represent the Suriboys in October 2020. The Netherlands-born Alberg has represented the Dutch U18s and U20s and is now called up to the Suriname National team under coach Dean Gorré after FIFA’s go ahead.

The 30-year-old midfielder has played in Netherlands, Turkey, The USA, Bulgaria and Greece before joining Hyderabad FC in January. He recently scored his first Indian Super League goal, against ATK Mohun Bagan and also has an assist to his name this season.
