‘We are taking it one game at a time’

Manolo Marquez speaks after the goalless draw against Jamshedpur…

Hyderabad FC failed to make the most of an energetic first half against Jamshedpur as they registered their third consecutive draw in the Indian Super League on Sunday. After the game, Manolo Marquez spoke about the result, the race to the play-offs the performance of his players and more…

On the result against Jamshedpur…

Jamshedpur’s style of play is very difficult to face and we had to adapt throughout the game. They have really good players all around the field that could have won them the game. We had a clear chance early in the game that fell to Joel Chianese and it is good that we are creating such chances.

Maybe the second half was a more equal game but I am satisfied with my team’s performance. We were probably closer to winning the game but I think the 0-0 was a fair result for both sides, in the end.

On chances of qualification…

Every team is strong and has a chance to qualify for the playoffs. So, it is important that we do not lose to these teams and a draw is not always bad.

We wanted to win this game but a point is not a bad result at all for us. Mainly because it helps us keep distance with Jamshedpur. This situation could continue for a few more rounds so for us, at the moment, we are only looking to take it one game at a time.

On Aridane’s role in the match…

Normally, Aridane tries to attack the ball but in this game, we needed him to mark Stephen Eze. We usually have a strong player marking him in these situations but the absence of Joao Victor meant that Aridane had to do this job.

But he did extremely well, and almost scored from a half-chance and I am really happy with his performance in this game.
