Ramhlunchhunga’s scores late screamer in 1-3 defeat
Hyderabad: Shameel Chembakath’s Hyderabad FC fell to their first home defeat of 2025 here at the Gachibowli Stadium on Thursday.
An Alex Saji own goal (41’), and goals from Luka Majcen (56’) and Singamayum Shami (86’) gave the visiting Punjab FC side a 3-1 win on the night.
Ramhlunchhunga scored a stunning goal (90+4’), but it was too late in the game for Hyderabad to have an impact on the result.
The Yellow and Black were unlucky to concede the first as a shot from Muhammad Suhail deflected off Alex and beat Arshdeep on goal just before the break.
Edmilson Correia and Joseph Sunny had their chances in the half but Hyderabad had to claw back from a goal down after the restart.
The Nawabs pushed hard and created a few half chances but the clinical Majcen doubled the lead just before the hour mark.

Stefan Sapic, Manoj Mohammad, Muhammad Rafi. Andrei Alba and Isaac Vanmalsawma were all tested as Hyderabad pushed for a goal.
And Shami stuck with a well taken goal, leaving HFC too much to do, too late in the game.
Chhunga did pop up with a stunning goal just before full-time.
The youngster curled one into the far corner from outside the box, to score his second of the season.
Arshdeep Singh pulled out a few good saves too at the other end but that did not change the result as Hyderabad fell to their first home defeat of 2025.
Punjab, who now completed the double over HFC, move to 27 points, into the 9th place in the league table.
