27 Nikhil Poojary

Hailing from Mangalore, Poojary started his career with youth teams in Mumbai before turning out for Mumbai FC in the AIFF Youth Leagues. His performances caught the eye of Kolkata-based East Bengal who signed him up in 2015. Having represented East Bengal in the CFL and I-League during two seasons, Poojary returned to Maharashtra, this time joining Pune City. A full Indian international since 2017, Poojary played every minute of HFC’s debut campaign and also played a crucial role in a 2020-21 campaign hampered with an injury. He was a mainstay in the first team in the trophy-winning 2021-22 season, where he also sported the armband for the club after securing his first goal and is now regarded as a senior figure at the club. Poojary made 26 appearances last season for HFC is a crucial part of the Indian National Team and is one of the captains and first names on the team sheet ahead of the 2023-24 campaign as well…
