Coach Manolo Marquez discusses the FC Goa result, the SC East Bengal challenge and more…
On the result against FC Goa…
I am not happy because when you play a game, you always try to get three points. But it is better to draw than to lose. However, I do think it was a fair score. For me the stranger thing is that FC Goa is four points below us so at this moment, the point was a good one and we will try to win our remaining games.
On the effect of venues on the game…
This is a tough question to answer. Some games in the second leg have different venues, this means that not all grounds are in the same condition. The field at Tilak is not that great compared to the ones at Bambolim and Fatorda but the game plans hardly change to different grounds so there is no difference in the preparations.
On the SC East Bengal clash…
I think we can all agree that every game in the ISL is difficult to win. In the last two games, we saw that the results could go either way right till the end. Every coach says that every team can beat the other.
So, this is just another game for us and we will try to win. We do no think about East Bengal’s position. We have to play with our style and try to win the game.
On the mindset of the team…
It’s true at East Bengal are not at their best but the three points they won are against the likes of Jamshedpur and Chennaiyin. Even against FC Goa, they had many chances to win. So, for sure, they have good players.
The situation for them is difficult but we have to be focused on our style and our game and not about the opponents form at the moment.

On the defensive trio of Asish, Mishra and Sana…
All three of them have been with the team since last season. Though the second season is usually difficult the continuity is an advantage for us. We need to balance this and make sure that they continue in a good way.
The consistency of the team…
At the beginning of the season, I spoke about finding consistency and for now, I am more or less happy. I don’t like to speak too much about these things because you usually only remember games that you deserve more.
Sometimes you lose games that you don’t deserve to lose and win games that you don’t deserve to win. In a 20-game season, these things are normal.
