Joel Chianese explains what keeps him going after extending his HFC stay

An Aussie bloke in your dressing room is always a blessing!

And we have one of our own, in Joel Chianese.

Now into his third season in Yellow and Black, the versatile attacker already has a glimpse of the Hyderabadi experience. But he is coming back for more…

The 32-year-old penned a new contract that will keep him at Hyderabad for another year and he cannot wait to get started, again

“I am really excited to be a part of the HFC family for another season. We’ve tasted success but the next season is an exciting challenge to see if we can reproduce that again”

A trusted member of Manolo Marquez’s squad, Joel has played in a variety of roles in his time at HFC.

Unlucky with a few injuries, he constantly comes up with match-winning performances when we need it the most but he is full of praise for the squad and the boss.

“I think Manolo has a way of getting the best out of the Indian players and also managing the foreign group very well. He’s very approachable and that goes a long way to creating a good relationship,” said the former Perth Glory man.

Never far away from banter, Joel is a character everyone needs a bit of, in every group.

He is one of just two overseas players that played their second season with the club and is pretty much a core member of the HFC family.

When you don’t see him training, dining or hanging out by the pool, you will probably see him deep in conversation with one of the youngsters, sharing every bit of experience he has gathered in his career.

But when it comes to his game, there is no compromise.

He is a model professional, is a hard-working player, and can get the fans off their seats. And Joel is ready to bring some of that fire to Gachibowli next season.

“I think you can expect from me the same as the last 2 seasons. I will give 100% every game, adapting to any style of play. I hope to score and assist goals but more importantly, I want to be a player who can take pride in helping the Indian players around me improve”

We know us fans are all excited for the new season but the players are usually just as excited.

Joel Chianese is yet to experience the roar at Gachibowli but he is all ready to dive into it the next season. “We really can’t wait to play in front you all at our home stadium,” said Joel.

“We have felt the support from afar the last 2 seasons and now it’s time to be loud,” he added.

Apart from the goals, the assists, and his industry, Joel is also a player who likes to have some fun, even on the field.

For a state that loves it’s movies, Joel is ready to provide plenty of entertainment.

As hard as he trains, the 32-year-old takes time to learn dance moves to pull out during celebrations and believes that all this effort is worth it to bring smiles on the faces of the fans.

“It is never easy to become champions, so it is an amazing feeling to know your hard work and sacrifices as a team was worth it. Hopefully, it gives the fans something to smile and be happy about at the same time”

With No 7 on his back, when Joel takes the field, we all get excited. And it is now not long before the smiles are back…
