Hyderabad fall to cruel defeat to Bengaluru

HFC concede in stoppage time to lose 2-1 after a dominating show

Goa: Luck was against Hyderabad FC’s reserve side who went down fighting after a dominant performance against Bengaluru FC in a Round-3 encounter of the Reliance Foundation Development League at Benaulim, on Sunday.

Rahul Raju (14’) and Monirul Molla (90 +1’) were on target for Bengaluru as Amritpal Singh’s 46th-minute equalizer for HFC went in vain at the end.

Shameel Chembakath’s side were on the front foot right from the beginning, constantly keeping the BFC side pegged in their own half. Rohlupuia came close to scoring before Raju found the back of the net at the other end with their first real chance of the game.

Koustav Dutta, Rohlupuia, Lalchungnunga Chhangte and Muhammed Rafi all came close before Monirul managed to score a late winner to seal the win for Bengaluru.

This was HFC’s second defeat of the campaign, as they remain 5th in the league table. They are back in action on Thursday, April 28, when they take on FC Goa at Benaulim.
