Hyderabad FC B begin campaign with narrow defeat

The youngsters fought till end but lost 2-1 against ARA FC

Ahmedabad: Hyderabad FC’s young guns, started their Hero 2nd Division campaign on Thursday with a narrow defeat against ARA FC in an entertaining contest in Ahmedabad.

Both teams started off brightly but went into the break without a goal to show for it. But it was ARA FA who came out strong after the break, finally opening the scoring in the 48th minute, with a goal from Naro Shrestha.

The hosts doubled their lead through Saurabh Bhanwala in the 73rd minute, as HFC B were left to overturn a two-goal deficit with less than 20 minutes to play.

But the HFC youngsters got back into the game but their first goal came too late after Koustav Dutta scored from the spot in the 89th minute.

Renjith’s side fought till the final whistle, but failed to find an equalizer, as his side fell to a hard-fought loss in their campaign opener.

HFC B are back in action when they take on AUA FC at the Cooperage Stadium on Sunday, March 19.
