Hyderabad left frustrated in Chennai

The Nawabs go down to an early goal; fail to score again

Chennai: Thangboi Singto’s Hyderabad FC fell to another tough loss in the Indian Super League.

Irfan Yadvad’s 5th-minute goal was enough for Chennaiyin to seal all three points at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here in Chennai on Wednesday.

The hosts started the game on the front foot and created a flurry of chances right from kick-off.

And it was Irfan who finally managed to find the back of the net, thanks to a lucky deflection.

Hyderabad grew into the game and could have easily found an equalizer or more before the final whistle.

Andrei Alba and Alex Saji both hit the woodwork in the space of a couple of minutes at one end.

Cy Goddard missed a golden chance in the second half to equalize.

Allan Paulista, Edmilson Correia, Ramhlunchhunga and Abdul Rabeeh also struggled to test Mohammad Nawaz on goal.

Ayush Adhikari, Stefan Sapic and Muhammed Rafi all stuck to their task, but it was another frustrating night for Hyderabad.

Owen Coyle’s side made sure they slowed the game down and saw Connor Shields take a red for the same.

CFC were unlucky to lose players through injury but had players stay down to delay every restart possible.

The game was marred by an unfortunate injury to Elsinho, whose clash of heads saw him rushed to the hospital straight away.

We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him in action soon.

Soyal Joshy made his first Indian Super League start on the night while Abdul Rabeeh made his 50th ISL appearance.

Hyderabad will want to find some solutions in their next game.

The Nawabs are back in action at the Gachibowli Stadium on Monday, December 23.
