We are a tough team to face now: Ayush Adhikari

HFC midfielder Ayush Adhikari speaks to the media ahead of #HFCMCFC

Hyderabad FC are back in action at the Maidaan this Wednesday.

The Nawabs welcome Mumbai City to the Maidaan in a testing Indian Super League clash here on February 19.

Midfielder Ayush Adhikari joined the HFC Interim Coach Shameel Chembakath, as the duo addressed the media ahead of this clash.

Here is what Ayush had to say…

On the tough result in Odisha…

In the last game, I think we were quite pleased with our performance, taking the lead in the first half. But conceding two quick goals like that was really disappointing. And from then, it was really hard to come back, playing away from home.

But I think we played really good football in the first half and also in the second half in Odisha. But it is the small mistakes that cost us the game and we are working on reducing those mistakes.

On facing Mumbai City at home…

It is always a great feeling to playing at home, after a tough away game. I remember, when we went to Mumbai to play City, they made it really tough for us. The intensity of their press was also really tough to face.

But I think they are under pressure to get a result and we are now a really hard team to face. And playing at home, we think we will give them a tough fight tomorrow.

On learning from the past…

It is not normal to lose a lead like we did in the last game. After taking a lead, we need to get back on our feet, be more aggressive and need to concentrate more as well. I think we, as a group, have realized the mistakes and hope to show that we have learnt from them, in this game against Mumbai City.

On competition for places at HFC…

Every player wants to play every game and I do too. It is always good to have competition for places within the team. As a professional, it is important to work hard and always be available for the team when they need you. So whenever I get the chance, I need to be ready and help the team as much as I can.

On his midfield duties in the squad…

It is a real privilege to be playing alongside the likes of Andrei Alba. He is a great player, has a lot of experience and superb quality. I have learnt a lot from him this season. But it was not too much pressure replacing him in the first team. I know it is important that I stick to my task and do my job well.
