Hyderabad complete league double over Mohammedan

The Nawabs beat the league debutants 3-1; Register back-to-back home wins

Hyderabad: Hyderabad FC found their way back to winning ways on Saturday here at the Gachibowli Stadium.

Goals from Allan Paulista (24’), Ramhlunchhunga (45+1) and Joseph Sunny (90+6) sealed the deal for the Yellow and Black.

Former HFC attacker Makan Chothe (78’) was the goal scorer for the visitors.

Mohammedan were flat in possession for most of the game and it was a clinical performance from Hyderabad that gave them the three points.

Allan Paulista scored an acrobatic goal, after a beautiful chest control from a long ball to give HFC the lead.

Chhunga scored from a free-kick, his first in over a year, as Hyderabad went into the break two goals up.

The youngster’s goal was also Hyderabad’s first goal from a direct free-kick for almost five years.

Hyderabad were in control for most of the game but Chothe came off the bench to score from a set-piece with 10 minutes to play.

Mohammedan tried to push for an equalizer but Arshdeep Singh kept denying them, to hold on to the lead.

And it was Joseph Sunny, to round off a sweeping counter, after an intelligent lay-off by Allan, late in the game to seal the deal for Hyderabad.

It was Joseph’s second goal in his last two home games but he could have easily had a couple more.

Cy Goddard, Abdul Rabeeh, Andrei Alba and Ayush Adhikari also came close as Hyderabad put in a strong performance to take all three points.

Stefan Sapic, Alex Saji, Muhammed Rafi and Manoj Mohammad stuck to their task at the back and also deserve plaudits for the result.

But it was a clinical performance from the front line, that made his an easy result in the end for Hyderabad.

Striker Allan Paulista registered a goal and an assist on the night and was named the Player of the Match on the night.

Hyderabad are back in action when they take on Odisha FC at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Friday, February 14.
