Hyderabad host Mohammedan on their first trip to Telangana

The Nawabs beat MSC in the reverse fixture; Hope to secure consecutive home wins

Hyderabad: Hyderabad FC are back in action this weekend.

The Nawabs take on Mohammedan SC at the Gachibowli Stadium in an early, 5:00 pm kick-off this Saturday, February 8 in an exciting Indian Super League clash here in Hyderabad.

With both teams struggling at the wrong side of the table, a win in this game could set them up for a strong finish to the 2024-25 league campaign.

Mohammedan have had their share of issues off the field and have lost their last two games in the league.

Alexis Gomes, Lalremsanga Fanai, Florent Ogier, Mohammed Irshad and Carlos Franka have been impressive at times this season and will be the dangermen for the visitors in this game.

Former HFC players Makan Chothe and Sajad Parray may also have a say on the night.

Mohammedan are a strong side and can trouble the best teams on their day.

The Nawabs need to be on the top of their game for this one says Interim Coach Shameel Chembakath.

“Mohammedan are a tough team and we need to be at our best for this game,” said coach Shameel, speaking to the media ahead of this game.

“They can move above us in the points table with a win and will be determined to put in a strong performance. So we have to make sure we are focused, make no mistakes and do well to get anything from this game,” he added.

Hyderabad are fresh from a defeat in Guwahati but have had a decent start to the year.

They have taken 5 points from their last five games and will go into this game hunting for all three points.

Allan Paulista, Joseph Sunny, Ramhlunchhunga, Edmilson Correia, Cy Goddard and Abdul Rabeeh have all found some form and will want to convert it into goal contributions in the final third.

Alex Saji, who returns from a suspension and Stefan Sapic will have their work cut out against a tricky Mohammedan side.

Mohammed Rafi, Isaac Vanmalsawma, Andrei Alba and Manoj Mohammad have all been consistent but will also be tested in this game.

“This is a great chance for us to build some momentum before the last few games in the league,” said Coach Shameel, speaking about his team’s preparations ahead of this clash.

“The players are ready to take on the challenges, have worked really hard in training and will focus on the three points tomorrow,” he added.

Hyderabad pulled off a clutch win against Jamshedpur in their last home game, taking all three points against all odds.

The support from the fans played a big role in the turnaround and Coach Shameel will hope to call back a similar, energetic performance from his players and in turn the fans.
