Hyderabad, Mumbai play out eventful stalemate

Arshdeep Singh’s heroics help Hyderabad to first clean sheet of 2025

Hyderabad: Hyderabad FC extended their unbeaten run at home to five games, after playing out a 0-0 draw against Mumbai City here at the Gachibowli Stadium on Wednesday.

This result takes Hyderabad’s points tally to 17, with three more games to play in the league.

The Nawabs needed a determined display at the back to ensure that Mumbai did not find the back of the net.

Mehtab Singh, Jorge Ortiz, Vikram Pratap Singh and Jon Toral all had chances but came across Arshdeep Singh on goal.

The Hyderabad FC shot-stopper was in top form, making seven crucial saves to keep the score at nil-nil.

Stefan Sapic, Alex Saji, Abdul Rabeeh and Manoj Mohammad also put in the hard yards, making sure that the likes of Lallianzuala Chhangte and Brandon Fernandes and Bipin Singh do not get too much space and time on the ball in the final third.

Allan Paulista, Devendra Murgaonkar, Joseph Sunny and Edmilson Correia all had half-chances right till the end.

However, neither team found the breakthrough before the final whistle and had settle for a point each on the night.

It was an eventful evening at the Gachibowli Stadium as Hyderabad extended their unbeaten run at home to five games.

The Nawabs now have two wins and three draws in their five home games since the turn of the year.

But they will look to gather some points on their travels too.

Coach Shameel’s side travel to Kolkata for their next league game, to take on East Bengal at the Salt Lake Stadium on Wednesday, February 26.
