Hyderabad silence Fatorda with stoppage-time equalizer

Allan Paulista nets his third of the season; Alex Saji, Borja Herrera see red

Fatorda: Hyderabad FC’s fighting spirit paid dividends against the Gaurs here at the PJN Stadium in Goa on Wednesday.

Allan Paulista’s 92nd-minute goal cancelled out Armando Sadiku’s 52nd-minute strikr, as Hyderabad and FC Goa share the spoils on the night.

Alex Saji put in a solid performance, pulling two goal-saving blocks but was sent off for two Yellow card offences in the 71st minute.

He followed Borja Herrera, who lost his cool and saw a straight red in the 59th minute, as the game ended with just 20 men on the pitch.

The Nawabs toiled hard to get to the break on level terms but Sadiku gave the hosts a lead with an acrobatic effort just a few minutes after the restart.

But Hyderabad reacted well and kept piling the pressure on Manolo Marquez’s side as the half went on.

And it was Allan Paulista, who showed lovely ball control inside the box to cut short the Gaur party in the stands at Fatorda.

Stefan Sapic, Cy Goddard, Andrei Alba, Manoj Mohammad and Abdul Rabeeh were superb all night as Hyderabad registered their first points of the New Year.

Edmilson Correia pulled up late in the first half and could not continue after the break, which slightly dampens the mood for the Yellow and Black.

This result would be a dent in the race to the shield for FC Goa, while Hyderabad will now look to keep pushing and get their first win in the next game.

They are back in action when they welcome Bengaluru FC to the Gachibowli Stadium in a 5:00 pm kick-off on Saturday, January 18.

The Yellow and Black need all the support they can get, in search of their first home win. Join them in the battle against the Blues. Buy your tickets here on TicketGenie.
