Reigning ISL Champions express gratitude towards Manipur government and Indian Armed Forces for successfully hosting Durand Cup
Imphal, Manipur: Hyderabad FC, the 2021-22 Indian Super League champions, qualified for the quarterfinals in the 131st edition of the Durand Cup after a 3-0 win over NEROCA FC on Tuesday. During their third successive win, Hyderabad FC expressed their gratitude towards the organizers of the historic tournament which was being staged in Imphal for the very first time.
Established in 2019, Hyderabad FC have come a long way in their short 3-year history. From finishing last in their debut season, to winning the Indian Super League with a focus on Indian youth players, the club has managed to entertain fans with their unique brand of football.

Having had a fantastic experience in the competition so far, with crowds thronging to the Khuman Lampak Stadium to watch the ISL champions, HFC handed a token of gratitude to the Hon. CM of Manipur, Shri. N. Biren Singh, as well Major General Navin Sachdeva, SM (GOC, Red Shields) representing the Indian Armed Forces.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Varun Tripuraneni, Hyderabad FC Co-Owner said, “The experience of teams playing in the Durand Cup in Imphal has been an amazing one. We all have witnessed football behind closed doors for two years and coming to packed houses in Imphal has been special for every team. All of us at Hyderabad FC hope that we were able to entertain every single fan in Manipur with our football, and thank every single person who came to meet us at the airport, hotel, academies, turfs and the stadium, from the bottom of our hearts.”
