Hyderabad take on Punjab FC in an exciting Tuesday-night clash

Hyderabad: After an unlucky defeat in Bengaluru, Hyderabad will look to put in a stronger performance against Punjab in their next league fixture.

The young guns take on Punjab FC at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Gachibowli, Hyderabad on Tuesday, February 27.

Hyderabad are currently 12th in the league table and are in need of a positive result for a boostย  The visitors, on the other hand, will fight for three points to keep their hopes of play-off qualification alive for the season.

Staikos Vergetisโ€™ side registered a couple of crucial victories in the lead-up to this game. The front three of Luka Majcen, Mehdi Talal and Wilmar Jordan Gil will be a big threat for the young HFC side.

The ex-HFC duo of Nikhil Prabhu and Sahil Tavora (out on loan) has also been effective in the middle of the park for Punjab this season.

HFC Head Coach Thangboi Singto expects a tough game against Punjab on Tuesday.

โ€œPunjab have given themselves a good account in the ISL, and have players foreign players that can win games for their sideโ€ he said.

โ€œBut the hunger and desire shown by our young side who have stepped up recently, will mean that we will give them a tough fight,โ€ added Coach Thangboi.

With Hyderabad skipper Joao Victor back from suspension, this midfield battle could be where the game is decided.

Punjabโ€™s direct approach will test Muhammed Rafi, Sajad Parray and Alex Saji (back from suspension) along with Laxmikant Kattimani on goal.

However, the likes of Mark Zothanpuia, Makan Chothe, Abdul Rabeeh and Ramhlunchhunga. Chhunga, who is fresh from his first ISL goal, will also test the Punjab backline, who have had their troubles this season.

โ€œWe want to prove ourselves so we give everything in every game,โ€ said Ramhlunchhunga, talking to the media ahead of the game.

โ€œOur squad ise young and hungry. We want to win, so we will give our everything, again,โ€ the youngster added.

With a youthful squad that is fast growing in confidence, Thangboi Singtoโ€™s side will look to put in another impressive performance, to impress the Yellow and Black this Tuesday.

The game kicks off at 7:30 pm IST on Tuesday, February 27. It be telecasted live on Sports 18 and VH1, with free streaming on Jio Cinema.
