Hyderabad aim to end season on high

Hyderabad host Kerala Blasters in last game of the 2023-24 league campaign

Hyderabad: After the couple of tough results in the last two rounds of the Indian Super League, Hyderabad FC are back in action this weekend.

They take on Kerala Blasters at the Gachibowli Stadium this Friday, April 12 in a crunching league clash.

The result of this game has no bearing on the league positions of either side.

However, with plenty to prove for the young players, they will settle for nothing less than three points.

The Blasters have now won just one of their last nine league games. The absence of Adrian Luna has been a big setback for the visitors.

But the likes of Milos Drincic, Daisuke Sakai, Rahul KP, Pritam Kotal, Mohammed Aimen and Mohammed Azhar have all got their chances in the last few games.

But with very little to play for in the league stage, Coach Vukamanovic might even rest a few of his key players ahead of this game.

However, HFC Head Coach Thangboi Singto believes that his team need to be at their best to give the Blasters a tough fight.

β€œKerala have already qualified for the playoffs, and we know that they are a tough team to beat,” said Coach Thangboi.

β€œThey bring a lot of fervour into every game they play but we are ready to give it our all and try to end the season with a good result,” he added.

Hyderabad FC have also had a tough return to action after the recent international break.

Back-to-back losses to in-form teams will be a cause for concern for Hyderabad.

But Head Coach Thangboi Singto believes that his youngsters will give it their all, for one last time this season.

The likes of Makan Chothe, Rahmlunchhunga, Abdul Rabeeh, Joseph Sunny, Muhammed Rafi, Alex Saji and Sajad Parray have all been impressive.

But the team needs to put in a strong performance and get a result, to finish the season on a high.

β€œI think as a team, we have shown a lot of character in these tough times,” said Coach Thangboi.

β€œIt is important for us to put in a good performance and show our the players, our staff, the fans and everyone involved at the club that we are in this together,” he added.

The Blasters edged past Hyderabad in a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

But with both teams taking up a reformed look, this game promises to be a thriller, with three morale-boosting points up for grabs on the night.

The game kicks-off at 7:30 pm IST on Friday, April 12 and will be telecasted live on Sports 18 and VH1, with free streaming on Jio Cinema.
