‘I have been waiting for this chance’

Liston Colaco speaks about his performance in victory over Odisha FC

Panaji, Goa: Hyderabad FC started their ISL campaign with a win over Odisha FC on Monday. Liston Colaco came off the bench and helped Manolo Marquez’s men close out the game in the second half. He spoke about the impact of Subrata Paul’s experience on the squad, coming off the bench and making a difference and more…

On a dream start for Hyderabad’s campaign…

Yes, it is a result of the hard work we put in the training ground. It was very difficult because for six months we had no football, but we put in the effort in pre-season. For me, the clean sheet was very important.

On making an impact after coming off from the bench…

For more than two years, I have been waiting for this chance. I know I needed to show my talent because last season, I got two matches in which I scored twice. That was a boost for me so today I wanted to give my best.

On rough tackles, clean sheet and Subrata Paul’s instructions from the back…
Subrata Bhai’s known as the spiderman. He gives me and the youngsters bags of confidence. He always pushes us to show our quality. Even after training, he demands extra work from us, like with shooting practice. Also, the defenders were very focused from the start to the finish. We hope to continue that good work.

On breaking into Starting XI…

It’s every player’s dream to make the starting XI in any team. I want to work even harder to achieve it.
