A reputed goalscorer in Spain, Santana spent almost a decade playing in the Spanish Leagues, with his most productive campaign coming with Tenerife in the 2012-13 season of Segunda B. He was the top goal scorer in the league with 27 goals to his name, as he helped the club gain promotion to Segunda Division. His first overseas stint came with Bangkok Glass in 2015 before moving to India with Odisha FC in 2019. He registered nine goals and four assists in 14 appearances in his debut season in the Indian Super League and followed it up with 10 goals for Hyderabad FC in the 2020-21 ISL campaign. He was the captain of the side and a leader on and off the pitch, as he remains the club’s record goal scorer to date.
