We will learn from our mistakes and not be defined by them: Shameel Chembakath

The HFC Interim Coach, Shameel Chembakath speaks after taking charge

Hyderabad: Hyderabad FC have a new man at the helm for the upcoming games. The club appointed Asst. Coach Shameel Chembakath as the Interim Coach on Wednesday, as they prepare for back-to-back home games in the Indian Super League.

The former reserve team Head Coach, Shameel Chembakath spent the last two seasons as the First Team Assistant Coach and recently obtained his AFC Pro Diploma License.

The 38-year-old has taken charge of the team and spoke to the HFC Media about the targets for the season, the need for a turnaround and more.

Here is what Coach Shameel had to say…

On taking charge as an Interim Coach…

Becoming the Interim Coach of this team means a great deal to me personally. This opportunity holds a great deal of personal significance because of my long-standing relationship with Thangboi Singto. We worked closely together for many years, and it is now my responsibility to uphold and improve the standards that have already been set at this club.

I am committed to creating a squad that is resilient, unified, dedicated and determined to succeed. Together, we hope to carry forward the legacy of this club and pave the way for a bright future.

On the need to find results…

Our main aim will be to get some positive results. We want to focus on things we can control and improve on our on-field performances, our attitude and our determination to secure the three points in every game.

We will learn from our mistakes but we will not be defined by them. We are focused on what lies ahead and are determined to give everything we have to make our fans and our club proud.

On what’s in store for the first team…

At the moment, the most important thing for the team to find is its unity. We must all work together as a family with players and staff understanding the importance of their individual roles. We should continue to believe that with the right attitude and mentality, we can overcome any obstacle and achieve great things.

Each and every member of the first team must commit to give their 100% in every game, every training session and even off the pitch. There needs to be a bit of sacrifice for the good of the team but we are willing to support each other and push ourselves to the limit.

On turning things around…

Our recent results have been disappointing and I know that our loyal fans are eager to see a change in our fortunes. We promise that the team is committed to leaving the past behind and moving ahead with a renewed sense of purpose and determination.

We know that we will have to face a lot of challenges but we are prepared to put in the hard work and make the adjustments needed to turn things around.
