India crowned Tri-Nation Champions in Imphal

HFC’s Chinglensana, Yasir, Mishra play crucial role in winning run

Imphal: In front of a capacity 30,000 crowd at the Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal, Manipur, Igor Stimac’s Indian National Team put in a stellar performance to beat Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday.

Sunil Chhetri and Sandesh Jhingan scored as Indian beat Kyrgyz Republic 2-0 after a 1-0 victory over Myanmar in the opening game of the competition.

Mohammad Yasir was impressive in that game while Akash Mishra was solid at the back which helped India maintain a 100% record, taking six points from the two games to be crowned Champions in Imphal.

This is the first of three competitions the National Team are set to fight for in this summer. They are back in action for the Hero Intercontinental Cup at the Kalinga Stadium in Odisha, starting Friday, June 9.
