Talking Points #HFCFCG

Indian Super League, Round 8

Hyderabad FC failed to arrest their losing run against FC Goa after late goals from Ishan Pandita and Igor Angulo gave all three points to the visitors on Wednesday. Aridane Santana was back amongst the goals but Manolo Marquez’s men could not hold onto a one-goal lead as they fell to their third consecutive league defeat in the ISL. Here are a few talking points from this game

Missed Chances

Probably one of the most talked about point in the season so far for Hyderabad – missed chances – once again cost them a game. While the first half against Goa was a hard-fought contest, HFC should have put the game beyond the visitors long before Pandita came off the bench to equalize.

Joao Victor, Aridane and Mohammad Yasir, who came off the bench, all had close chances to find the back of the FC Goa net but fell short. Hyderabad created 11 chances on the night, took six shots on target but scored just the one goal. On the other hand, FC Goa, who had just two shots on target, scored with both and stole the points away.

Back amongst the goals

The Spanish striker has been in superb form for Hyderabad FC. Though he has missed a few half-chances, he has five goals in seven games for the club and is one of the most consistent strikers in the league at the moment. After failing to score against Mumbai and Kerala, HFC are back amongst the goals, thanks to our No 9 and he will surely be crucial in the upcoming games as well, for the club.

Squad getting stronger

Since the start of the ISL season, Hyderabad FC have had at least a couple of players out with injuries. While striker Fran Sandaza came back from his long injury lay-off for the last two games, the likes of Joel Chianese and Lluis Sastre also returned to the field against FC Goa.

The duo of Nikhil Poojary and Liston Colaco missed that game but could be back soon. With the games coming thick and fast in the ISL, the return of players from injury will surely make Hyderabad FC stronger in the coming weeks giving Manolo Marquez more options all over the field.
